Level A personal protective equipment (PPE) provides the highest level of protection against hazardous materials, particularly in situations where the specific hazards are unknown or pose a significant risk. This level includes a fully encapsulated suit that is airtight, along with a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). By being fully sealed off from the environment, it protects the wearer from vapors, gases, and liquid splashes of hazardous substances.

The materials used in Level A suits are specially designed to resist permeation and degradation from aggressive chemicals, ensuring that the skin is not exposed to harmful agents.
